Arlie Neskahi (Dine’) Yah-ah-t’eh to one and all! I am for the Dine’ Nation and grew up in the powwow circle in the Four Corners region. I am very honored to be chosen as this year’s MC. I live in the LA area in the early 90’s and it’s always good to return to the area and see many of my powwow family. For as long as I can remember we have been so welcoming to our northern brothers and sisters from Canada within the powwow circle. We have their flags in our grand entries and allow them to bless our grounds and teach us . The time has come for us to open our eyes and hearts to our brothers and sisters from the South as well. There is an re-awakening of “indigena”, that is bringing a sweet strength and knowledge of our political and cultural histories that is so exciting. What I have seen in the powwow circle is a model for respectful interaction. |

Victor Chavez (Dine’) Born on the Esleta Pueblo Reservation, N.M. but Navajo from his mother’s side, Victor Chavez had been a part of the Pow Wow Community since the 1970’s. He has sung with numerous drum groups but for the last six years he’s been with the Wildhorse Singers. Victor returns to the Pow Wow once again as our Arena Director, which he is most honored to do. He feels that following proper protocol is the key to a successful Pow Wow and he will be giving his full intentions and energy to his duties. Furthermore, Victor says he’s here to help and educate the people and he wishes every one a beautiful experience for the two days. |
